Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria listed on the Eligibility page may apply.

The initial award will be given within 90 days from the end of the first cycle application deadline (July 31, 2026) or when the application pool reaches a substantial amount that allows the grant to make a real, meaningful difference for someone.
After the first award, cycles will run quarterly while the program is still in its early stages. As the applicant base grows and becomes more predictable, the long‑term goal is to transition into a monthly award cycle. This site will be updated as changes occur.
-
The first few awards will be no less than $3,000, with the potential for a higher amount depending on the number of applicants and the available funds for that cycle.
After the grant is more established, the award will be larger and will be disclosed prior to applying, as well as dedicated cycle times.
-
Yes. A small, non‑refundable fee helps cover administrative costs to ensure the grant can continue operating sustainably. The fee amount is $18 per application.
Because this is a trust‑based grant, the fee also helps maintain the integrity of the process by encouraging applicants to apply with genuine intent. A portion of these administrative costs also supports building a meaningful award amount, allowing each cycle’s grant to be substantial enough to make a real difference for someone.

Winners are never required to disclose personal details, their story, or any identifying information publicly.
For transparency and legitimacy, the program will only publicly confirm that a winner was selected for that cycle and the amount of the award, but no personal information is required.
For the public award announcement, the winners may choose to remain fully anonymous, by using initials, or an alias if they prefer. The confirmation email sent to winners will include a brief privacy questionnaire asking what, if anything, they are comfortable sharing publicly. Their preferences will always be honored.
-
Winners will be sent a physical check to the address provided in the winner announcement email correspondence. Breaking Barriers Grant Team will Never ask for bank account information to issue funds electronically.
The only financial information that will ever be securely collected, is when you pay the application fee at the time you apply.
-
At this time, the Breaking Barriers Grant is only available to applicants within the United States. This ensures the program can operate legally, securely, and sustainably while it’s still in its early stages.
As the grant grows and becomes more established, expanded eligibility may be considered in the future, but international applications are not accepted at this time.
