Founder Story

The Breaking Barriers Grant was created by someone who understands what it means to rebuild a life from the ground up. The mission behind this grant is rooted in the kind of lived experience that reshapes a person’s understanding of hardship, resilience, and what it truly takes to start over.

After navigating a series of life‑altering challenges, it became very clear how many people face turning points without a safety net, support system, or access to meaningful financial help. She saw how many dreams are delayed due to a lack of resources.

In addition to the need for meaningful financial support, privacy and anonymity have always been deeply important to our founder. During her own search for grants, she noticed that nearly every program required winners to have their names, stories, or identities made public. That expectation alone was enough to deter her from applying. It made her wonder how many others felt the same — how many more people might seek support if they knew they could choose to remain anonymous. That realization became one of the many driving forces behind creating the Breaking Barriers Grant.

This grant is still in its early stages, but its purpose is clear: to provide a meaningful award that can create real momentum for someone who needs it, to remove barriers, restore hope, and give someone the chance to move forward with confidence. This program has been shaped by compassion and driven by the belief that one meaningful opportunity can change everything.

I don’t think there’s enough real help out there for people who’ve faced hardship. I believe everyone’s dreams deserve to break through, not just those who can afford to make them happen.

There are grants out there, but so many of them require public exposure, complicated applications, or criteria that shut out the very people who need support the most. I wanted to create another option that offers privacy and accessibility. That’s how the Breaking Barriers Grant was born.
